Lancefield Equine Clinic has recently acquired a new dental endoscope which will now be included in your horse’s routine dental examination and float. This involves placing a small camera and light source directly into the horse’s mouth which is then displayed on a portable monitor for both vets and owners to view. This enables a more thorough examination of the oral cavity and dental arcades and allows us to pick up abnormalities that are more difficult to see by manual examination methods.
Below is a video from our endoscope of a horse that had been receiving regular dental examinations and floating by a lay horse dentist.
On the right you can see our scope and some examples of periodontal disease.
